When I opted out I specifically asked for an ANALOG meter. period. I got one too, the old style with the rotating wheel. But, I had already developed a relationship with my meter reader and he personally went and found me one and came and put it in, which I doubt happens very often.
You could always try a piece of aluminum plate, see if you can slide it behind the meter and the house. If you can't slide it behind the meter and the house put it on the wall where the meter is. Or about 50 sheets of aluminum foil and ground it to the earth.
Eric, I live in a rented apartment. There are two smart power meters on the wall opposite my second bedroom. I was concerned about the radiation. A renter can not opt out. I covered one with a metal cover that I made and the other with one that I bought to block radiation.
I’m in the same situation and used to live in a unit that had 8-10 meters on the other side of the wall. This was before I knew anything about emf/5G. I was always depressed, anxious, agitated and basically unhappy. I loved my apartment location and view but was never at peace there. Suddenly, I had a wild hair and moved away into a worse situation…because I still wasn’t aware about 5G/emf/dirty electricity. I jumped around to several rentals one seemingly worse than the last until I saw a rental sign on my old apartment complex. It was not my old unit. It was in the middle of the building several apartments away from the meters. I missed the location and view so I took the risk of having neighbors on every side vs the meter wall with fewer neighbors surrounding me. I know there’s still issues about being surrounded by everyones WiFi/dirty electricity/etc but I’m not experiencing constant agitation/depression at all and I’m extremely happy with my new apartment which has a few apartments separating me from those meters. I feel sorry for the young couple that live there now. So, antidotal, I know, but I think it made a difference. My ears are constantly ringing though…no matter where I’m at.
So they are just guessing what you consume. You should read it yourself and call in your reading. I once got a check for $1500 back as they were over estimating my bills for years.
New issue now. We have a buried propane tank that provides heat and runs our generator when the power is out as well as our oven/stove. The tank was there when we bought the house. We do not own it. The propane company does. I HATE this company and have been fighting w/them yearly about price gauging, unnecessary fees , not delivering on time etc. NOW, they have put a wireless tank level monitor on the tank. This thing is massive. I unplugged it when I noticed it- apparently they put in when I wasn’t home. I input the fcc id into the fcc site and guess what? The files are CONFIDENTIAL! WTF?!!!! Propane is not regulated by the gov, so a constant fight to get a decent price. Because we do not own this tank, other propane companies will not deliver propane unless they buy the tank out from the owner ( AMERIGAS- horrible company- filed several complaints w/BBC) but because this tank has been here for at least 20 years, no one wants to take over the tank. So, unless we can find a tank, have this one dug up and removed (apparently at our own expense) we are stuck. This antenna is just crazy. I don’t have an emf monitor but I bet it puts out massive amounts. I’m still trying to dig up info but seriously, WTF! Keep an eye on your property people, they are ramping up the nonsense. Do they need to tell the property owner ?
If a person/human comes to your home to visually read it, does that mean it hasn't happened yet?
I currently have an old school meter "none-communicating", I've never seen anyone at my house ever to read my meter.

They don't offer this option anymore, when they were "local power company" many many years ago, this was an option

I resolved this problem before the end of the world in 2012. I moved to a "Survival Zone" and use a electric bike. RR
